Title

Queer AI on AI

Abstract

In this talk, we will discuss recent work studying the challenges of privacy, bias and fairness in the context of facial analysis systems (FA). Exploring images for the purposes of face detection, recognition and/or classification, FA shows an entanglement between human identity, self-presentation and computation. It is therefore a key example to highlight the current challenges with labelling, data collection and representation when it comes to contextual, sensitive and evolving information. Further, we discuss potential improvements, for example, by using participatory design and a queer perspective on FA.
