Cohort 4’s Joseph Marvin Imperial has just come back from the Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) which took place on February 27 – March 4, 2025. Joseph writes:
“Earlier this month, I recently presented a poster from one of my PhD projects at the Annual AAAI Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) – Doctoral Consortium held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, USA.
During the consortium, I showcased my current work, particularly a position paper I wrote in collaboration with members of ART-AI, Department of Pharmacy at the University of Bath, British Standards Institute, and IEEE Standards Association on the need for an interdisciplinary collaboration towards alignment of generative AI for regulatory and standard compliance. I was amazed by the quality of feedback and recommendations I received from the diverse group of fellow PhD students from universities across the globe who attended the event. We also conducted a two-part mentorship session where I got to talk with senior researchers from Microsoft and IBM about my research projects for this academic year. I found their insights on doing good, impactful research extremely helpful in shaping my perspective as an aspiring NLP research scientist.
Overall, the AAAI Doctoral Consortium really lived up to its reputation as one of the best AI programs for PhD students like me. I would definitely recommend it to my fellow PhD colleagues in our lab.”
