The AI Ethics & Faith Event will take place on Tuesday 20th January 2026 at Lambeth Palace, London, SE1 7JU. Charles Larkin, Director of Research, Institute for Policy Research, University of Bath, and Rev Dr Malcolm Brown are co-organising and chairing the day. Details below:
In 2024, ART-AI held a very successful initial workshop at Lambeth Palace Library looking specifically at theological insights into questions arising in AI Ethics. The co-organisers, Dr Charles Larkin and Rev Dr Malcolm Brown are now planning to dive deeper, this time with insights from Judaism and Islam as well as the Christian churches, and will be meeting at Lambeth Palace on 20th January 2026.
Whilst many are working on AI Ethics, inter-faith perspectives have not yet had much attention and this conference will bring its own insights that could be extremely helpful in getting such a dialogue started. Following the interest and involvement of participants in the 2024 conference, the organisers are convinced that thoughtful practitioners in AI are extremely open to theological perspectives, recognising that the ethical implications of their work require a serious engagement with pre-modern traditions of thought. The goal of this event is to take a deeper dive where the three Abrahamic faiths and AI practitioners can look at these questions together.
