PhD Connect 2024

Organised by The Alan Turing Institute, this annual two-day conference is for PhD students in data science and AI.

Introduction

As part of the Turing Connections initiative, every year The Alan Turing Institute organises PhD Connect, a 2-day national conference on Data Science and AI.

This conference is designed to bring together doctoral researchers from across the UK to share research, develop their skills, enhance their knowledge of real-world applications, and foster interaction and collaboration at a national level. Find out more here.

The event is organised and delivered in collaboration with the Connections network of national Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs).

PhD Connect will take place on Thursday, 21 and Friday, 22 November 2024, at Horizon in Leeds.

About the event

During the event, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in group research to address real-world challenges, hear directly from industry experts, showcase their research, and develop valuable skills through workshops and training opportunities.

Specifically, the event aims to:

  • Establish new and enhance existing student-to-student connections across the national research landscape.
  • Expose attendees to topics and people from different sectors (including industry, government and academia) to support their skills and career development.
  • Increase awareness of real-world challenges in AI and Data Science while helping attendees identify potential innovation spaces in their research and gain hands-on experience with industry applications
