ART-AI Seminar
We are pleased to have Professor Ken Satoh, of Principles of Informatics Research Division, NII (National Institute of Informatics), and Sokendai (The Graduate University of Advanced Studies), Japan, join us for this ART-AI seminar, entitled ‘Interactive System for Arranging Issues based on PROLEG in Civil Litigation’.
This seminar will take place online on Zoom on Tuesday 5th April 2022, 12.15pm-1.15pm (GMT). This Seminar will be chaired by Marina De Vos. For joining instructions, please e-mail [email protected].
Abstract
This seminar will be an extended version of the ‘Interactive System for Arranging Issues based on PROLEG in Civil Litigation’ demo paper (Satoh, Ken; Takahashi, Kazuko; Kawasaki, Tatsuki) presented at the International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law (ICAIL) 2021. Ken Satoh, Kazuko Takahasjhi and Tatsuki Kawasaki have been developing the PROLEG (PROlog-based LEGal reasoning support) system to simulate judge’s reasoning in civil litigation. This is a simulation of judgement reasoning after all the relevant facts are given. In this work, Ken Satoh, Kazuko Takahasjhi and Tatsuki Kawasak modify the PROLEG system to support arranging issues in civil litigation. Given a desired effect requested by one party, their interactive system (which they call int-PROLEG) automatically calculates possible justifications for the desired effect using PROLEG rules related with the Japanese civil law.
